MediaCollab for a Nuclear-Free Arctic

PHC developed the MediaCollab for a Nuclear-Free Arctic in 2021 as a free, online short-filmmaking creative opportunity for Alaskan youth age 15-20, supported by a crew of highly-experienced artists, filmmakers and nuclear nonproliferation activists. More “deep dive” than summer camp, these online, virtual sessions explore nuclear weapons issues, Alaska’s nuclear history and activism, the world-famous anti-nuke ad “Peace, Little Girl”, and creative techniques and tips for executing short films on short timelines. Then, students make films, and a selection of the most-compelling completed works are packaged with a teaching resource guide for bringing these issues to film festivals, classrooms and meetings across Alaska - and beyond. With advance planning, this project can be made available for your student or youth program - please contact us to discuss the possibilities, and view the sample promo video here.
